The Spurs held the lead 71-68, going into the fourth quarter, as Ben Simmons whiffed on a buzzer 3PT attempt, the potential-heavy star still not quite confident in his jumpshot. The Sixers paid for it, as the Spurs went on an 8-0 burst to open the final period but they clawed back within a point.
Knowing their roles, Dejounte Murray & Brandon Ingram took charge for San Antone, strengthening the lead back to ten, a display that featured Ingram blocking the big man, Joel Embiid (20 points, 17 rebounds; 3 blocks), and next a slick exchange in an alley-oop pass to Murray by Ingram. The slender-man star hit a step-back jumper over Al Horford (14 points, 6 rebounds, 4-11 FG%) to ice the game.
Ben Simmons struggled handling the ball under pressure, totaling 5 turnovers with 18 points & 10 assists. Ingram finished with 25 points, 7 rebounds. Murray had a solid 23 points with 5 assists. Joe Harris contributed 12 points; J.R. Smith had 9, as did Stauskas. P.J. Tucker had 8 points, 5 rebounds. Taurean Prince chipped in 7 points. Jarrett Allen had 10 rebounds with 6 impressive blocks. Timofey Mosgov had 7 rebounds with 2 blocks.
The Rest:
San Antonio shot better at 44% compared to 42%, as Philly won the paint 52-46. San Antonio's bench was strong at 40-17, sharing 29 assists whereas the 76ers won the glass at a close 55-49. Josh Richardson went a chilly 5-15 for 12 points, with Tobias Harris going 4-11.
