Rookie Luka Samanic to make season debut v. Cavaliers.

After a fourth consecutive win, the Spurs see a perennial championship pursuit on the horizon, wisely resting Brandon Ingram, Dejounte Murray & Timofey Mosgov for the team’s next meeting with the Cavaliers, especially after cruising to a win last time they met, a far cry encounter from past Finals battles.

Taurean Prince is on a contribution upswing, so he will start at the 3 spot, with P.J. Tucker at the 4 after a recent albeit lesser improvement in production. Nik Stauskas will get more burn, but the story here is 6’10 Croatian prospect, Luka Samanic, making his regular season debut after showing promise in Summer League, a talent with a potentially high ceiling. Samanic has averaged 15.3ppg, going 47% with 7.8rpg for the Austin Spurs.

R.C. Buford spoke on the prospect, “Luka’s size and skill can get you excited, but he still needs to improve his strength and focus on the court. He’s certainly off to a nice start in Austin, so we’re looking forward to seeing him take advantage of the call-up.”
