Coach Pop was not happy with his team tonight. |
Instead, San Antonio's ability to score evaporated and then Steph Curry wound up with 37 points, 6 rebounds & 8 assists with 5 threes, despite shooting 11-31 overall to overcome a cold start. "That's our worst performance of the season," Popovich sounded off, visibly disappointed by his team's effort. The scoreboard and quarter scoring columns would lead one to believe it was a close game, but Golden State led by 23 at one point. Nik Stauskas caught fire late hitting three from long distance, but the Spurs looked gassed and scatterbrained on the court for too long.
Brandon Ingram had an awful night, going 12 points on 4-14 and Dejounte Murray had six turnovers to go with 16 points & 6 assists; meanwhile, the Warriors outscored San Antonio in all four quarters. P.J. Tucker looked solid with 14 points, behind Avery Bradley's fifteen and Timofey Mosgov's 16 rebounds. Taurean Prince went 2-7 on the night. Willey Cauley-Stein had 16 points with 10 rebounds, as Glenn Robinson III, Draymond Green & Alec Burks combined for 40 points, stifling the Spurs.
This was definitely not the way the Spurs were looking to celebrate new year's eve, as a third home loss strikes the record so far this season, with San Antone still clinging to the top spot in the western conference.
